Noelle Imel is going into her second year as Director of Bands at Northwood High School. At Northwood, she directs the marching band, concert bands, jazz ensemble, guitar class, and various small ensembles. Ms. Imel also teaches the AP Music Theory course offered at Northwood in the spring.
Ms. Imel earned a Master of Music degree in Music Education from Georgia Southern University. During her graduate studies, she served as a Graduate Assistant for the Southern Pride Marching Band and Concert Bands area. She received her Bachelor of Music degree in Music Education also from Georgia Southern University, where she was an active participant in the Symphonic Wind Ensemble, Jazz Ensemble, Brass Quintets, Trumpet Studio, University Band, University Singers, and the Southern Pride Marching Band.
Before coming to Northwood, she was the Band Director at Beaufort Middle School in Beaufort, NC and then Director of Bands at Fike High School in Wilson, NC. She has also served as a music and visual technician for multiple band programs through the southeastern United States.
Her professional memberships include the National Association for Music Education (NAfME), North Carolina Bandmasters Association Member (NCBA), Women Band Directors International (WBDI), and holds alumni memberships in Sigma Alpha Iota (Gamma Theta chapter) and Kappa Kappa Psi (Nu Kappa chapter). She has two large cats named Sarge and Kronk.
